Pearl Black Granite Chess Board
Perfect for use outside!
Why do we use granite? Granite is an igneous rock, formed by heat, and is found deep within the Earth's crust. Once quarried, cut, polished, & sealed, granite is almost impervious to scratches, heat, etching, staining or weathering. It is truly one of Mother Nature's most versatile and beautiful creations.
We import our granite mostly from India. This is because Indian granites are proposed by 90% of Architects and Interior Designers due to their beautiful colours, textures, tough composition and durability. It may seem costly, but it is the investment of a lifetime.
Your chess board is hand made in the West Midlands by our Master Stonemason. We have no large machinery and our works are carried out by hand. Your board will be bespoke, as its creation is by hand, no two boards can be exactly the same.
After sourcing your material, we cut it to your desired size. The edges are formed by hand using polishing pads. Each edge is formed by 8 different grades of pad, each pad will pass the edge at least forty times: a painstaking process, but the end result is well worth it.
We then engrave each square, which forms a slight sunken base.
We then paint every other square with a special Stonemasonry paint to your desired colour. The paint is as hard wearing as the granite.
Each board is then quality checked by our Master Stonemason and then packaged for you .
