HOW TO ENTER:
1) Pay via PayPal – click button below and you’ll be transferred to PayPal – once payment is complete you’ll be automatically entered and a receipt will be sent.
2) Pay by Cheque. Post entries to “LCC Blitz Championship”, The Loose Cannon, 13-16 Allhallows Lane, London, EC4R 3UL. Send a cheque for £6 made payable to Loose Cannon. For further information by email contact Tim Woolgar
3) Pay on the night. £1 surcharge applies (note: All surcharge monies are added to the prize-fund)

10 rounds of 5 Minute Blitz Chess (meaning each game can last a maximum of 10 minutes) - 10 minutes break between each round. FIDE Blitz Rules apply: it is always touch and move, completed illegal moves lose, etc. for further information see: http://www.recgov.org/chess/blitzrules.html
Please note this is a different version of the rules than was used in the previous 2 LCC Blitz Competitions.

Doors Open: 7pm
1st Round Starts: 7.30pm
2nd Round Starts: 7.45pm
3rd Round Starts: 8.00pm
4th Round Starts: 8.15pm
5th Round Starts: 8.30pm
Interval after Round 5: 8.40pm - 9pm (plenty of time to get a drink from the bar and a bite to eat)
6th Round Starts: 9pm
7th Round Starts: 9.15pm
8th Round Starts: 9.30pm
9th Round Starts: 9.45
10th Round Starts: 10pm
10th Round Ends: 10.10pm
Prize-giving: 10.20pm
All finished by: 10.30pm
After the last round there is plenty of opportunity to play social chess (free of charge) as Loose Cannon is open till midnight.
Loose Cannon is a beautiful authentic London venue with a fully stocked bar, beer from £2.50 per pint, soft drinks and great meal deals.
PRIZES
Generous cash prize based on a percentage of entrance fees. There will also be grading prizes (cash or books) for the top player in the following sections: Ungraded / Under 100 Under 125 Under 150 Under 175 Players will be eligible for grading prizes based on their slowplay ECF grade as listed on the 2008-9 ECF grading database.
The 1st placed player will receive the London Chess Centre Blitz Trophy (donated by Action Trophies). The final standing of players is determined by the number of points scored. If there is a tie, it is broken by sum of progressive scores.
