Traditional Chess Clocks
Analogue clocks are the traditional method used to time chess matches and have remained more or less unchanged since their introduction 120 years ago. With their combination of simplicity, accuracy and old-world charm it is easy to see why they remain popular with chess players around the globe.
Batteries are not needed (except with the Master Quartz Timer) as analogue timers are powered by a wind up mechanism! Pressing the button down on your side stops your clock and starts your opponents. A flag will fall at the exact moment a player's time has expired. However, they are less accurate than digital timers and are unable to implement advanced time controls such as increment and time delay.
